The Stronghold Of Apathy

When I was young I used to smirk when old people said something like, "These kids today..." Usually what would follow would be a critical observation about how the new generation was deficient compared to their own generation. Whereas I used to smugly reject those kind of statements, now I find myself making them. There's an issue with our generation and, in all honesty, it's not exactly a modern issue. It's a stronghold in the heart of man. Apathy. Idleness. Procrastination. Laziness. The Gospel of Jesus Christ powerfully works to bring down the fortress of apathy in the hearts of believers. This message details the danger of a lax approach to life and reminds us that we are accountable with what we do with our "field of influence". Utilizing the words of Solomon in Proverbs 24:30-34, we see the potential for us to be no better than the lazy man who allowed his precious field to fall to waste. The repercussions of apathy are warned against and then we are able to see how the Gospel renews us to an empowered purposeful living. The listener will be edified through warning, exhortation and promise.
